M Wildan Maulana ousts Iman Haryanto in qualifying round at Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open
Indonesia’s M Wildan Maulana proved his mettle in Men’s Singles qualifying round when he overpowered his compatriot Iman Haryanto at the Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 in Indonesia, on Monday, May 14.
The in-form Maulana played to his maximum potential in all of his matches in qualifying round and stretched his winning run by beating Iman in a thrilling three-set fashion.
Maulana proved too strong for his team-mate in the court as he played with precision in the final set and won the contest with a good margin on the board.
On the other hand, Iman played well in the opening set and took it but failed to live up to expectations in the following sets and lost the battle in 40 minutes.
In the first game, Maulana played quivering badminton but failed to live up to expectation as he could not control the pace and also failed to place his shots in right areas.
Until the break, Maulana was trailing far behind of his opponent on the score board.
After the break, Iman continued his positive performance while Maulana failed to find his flow and eventually lost the game with a huge difference of 12-21.
In the second game, Maulana lifted up his play and matched the speed of his opponent. They were close until the mid-game interval.
After the break, both Indonesians continued playing impressive badminton and reached at the concluding phase when Maulana remained lucky in taking ending points and won the set with a 21-19 score on the board.
In the final set, Maulana was everywhere in the court as he kept the pace of rallies high and also made his opponent moving around in all areas.
Until the break, he was sailing far ahead of Iman on the score board.
After the break, Maulana did not lose his grip over the pace of rallies and also played with precision. He remained positive and eventually ended up the game with a huge 21-9 margin on the board.
The in-form Maulana won this qualifying round battle in three-games by a sensational score of 12-21, 21-19 and 21-9.
