  1. What career are you interested in?  To be a pilot, I would suggest you get some flying lessons.  Don't worry about how long it takes or how much it costs, as you will learn this as time goes on.  The most difficult part is figuring out how to pay for it.  Perhaps a job as an engineer will help.  I would stay away from flying if I were you, but that's just me.

  2. You'll get lots of good advice on how to get started, but I'd say stick to engineering and fly for fun. Better money, more opportunities, less stress and you're home every night. I wish I had been wise enough to get an engineering degree.

  3. You'll want to start flying at a local airport and get your private pilot's license first, to see if you enjoy flying.  This would cost between 5 and 7 thousand to complete.  If you find that you enjoy flying, there are several accelerated flight schools that can get you all of your FAA ratings (commercial, multi engine, instrument, and flight instructor).  One of the best is ATP (www.allatps.com).  I went there, and it is first rate.  Flying for a living is a unique lifestyle, provided you enjoy travel, don't mind being away from home 6 months out of the year (for me, 3-4 days on, 3-4 days off).  Salaries aren't what they used to be, but a solid 6 figure income isn't out of the question once you've had some experience.  Good luck
