M25 Motorway, when traffic announcements are broadcast regarding accidents and and slow moving traffic,?

they always mention ' in a clockwise/anticlockwise direction'. How can this be figured out easily? We live close to J21a, and there are often problems in this area. But I can't figure out how to work this out.

  1. The numbers of the junctions get higher in a clockwise direction like on the face of a clock.

    If there is congestion anticlockwise from 21a that's towards Heathrow (west), if it's clockwise its towards the Dartford tunnel (east).

    I'm not sure if that's any clearer or not!

  2. From Jn 21a, if you are heading for say, Dartford you are going CLOCKWISE - towards the 'high numbers'. If you are heading to Heathrow and beyond you are going ANTI-CLOCKWISE - towards the 'low numbers'.
