Question:

M25 Speed cameras?

I do not usually drive on the M25 but the other day I did. Before joining the M25 there were no sign suggesting that a variable speed limit is in force and I joined at near 70 mph. Later the overhead gantries said 60mph. How do I know whether that speed was in force before I join the M25?

  1. The speed limit applies from the first time it is displayed - so if there was no earlier speed limit signal then the limit started at that gantry.

  2. The only way to really find out is if you get a speeding ticket through your door. If you don't get one, you haven't got anything to worry about. also if you were doing 67mph in a 60mph limit they sometimes give you leaway, especially if speedlimit signs are unclear. also alot of slip roads say as you join them 'motorway regulations now apply' so i can't imagion that you were wrong!! Good luck hon.

  3. You cannot respond to a 60mph speed limit before you know it is in force. As long as you dropped to 60mph when you saw it on the gantry then you are fine.

  4. when you get a ticket

  5. It probably wasn't - but thats a horrid M/way for speed cameras all the time!! As is the M42 as well.
