I've used an iMac before, and the command c & command v always worked.. however this macbook my mum owns simply will not copy and paste this way.. and it is very annoying when I want to copy urls, text.. whatever. When I press the command c thing, it shows up as this symbol - ç and for command v - √

It's giving me a headache!

  1. That is not good. Have you tried other ways for copy and past, to see if they work? Example selecting copy or past from the edit menu or just highlight it and drag it? Anyways I can't think of too many options to fix it, but here goes.

    1. Restart the MacBook, if you haven't already.

    2. Application > Utilities > Disk Utility > select your hard drive > First Aid > Repair Disk Permissions. Once its completed, restart the computer again.

    3. If that doesn't fix it, and the problem persists. I'd say you are going to have to back up everything, Erase the hard drive and do a clean install of OS X, from the install disks. There may be a utility, something like Disk Warrior or something that could fix it. But I doubt it would help.
