MAC make-up, is it worth it?

I'm still experimenting, first time makeup user, and I'm wondering if MAC is a good brand to invest into. (i'm 18 and i have a job and everything, just to clarify that i'm not a little kid) i'm thinking of getting the eyeshadow and brushes from there. opinions? if not, any other brands/places you suggest? thanks

mac is all i use now, it really is amazing but there brushes are kinda expensive so i dont get them

but i own everything else mac

if you go there they can do a full makeover and then you can try the stuff you want and pick what you like the best

and they might even give you some smples of some skin products

coastal scents its the makeup all us make up artists are talking about..their eye shadows are very pigmented and their brushes are excellent! and for about a fourth of the price of mac! maybe even a fifth....another thing i like is there eyeshadow palettes come with SO SO many colors if your just starting out with make up its great because you can find colors that really suit you and have alot of fun playing around with different colors you wouldnt normally buy but might look great on you.

the only mac product i feel like is actually worth it is fix+ ...and to think i used to sware by only using mac products

okay well im a makeup artist here so i have alot of expeiriance with makeup. Especially MAC...

MAC would be my favorite brand for Eyeshadows and eyeliners. Their mascara is okay... but i prefer Lash injection by toofaced or Bad gal lash by benifit.

Foundation at MAC  does wonders for the skin and so does bare minerals.

MAC's brushes last incredibly long, but they are a bit pricey...

if you are still experimenting try buying more semi cheap brushes at a drug store and a few at sephora or MAC.

brush wise, I think they would be a good investment, just because I've heard that they are very well made, hand made...

But as for their makeup? Honestly, I would say mac is a present makeup; meaning only have it if given to you for your birthday or xmas, as long as you aren't paying for it. The foundations are notorious for breaking people out and whenever you go into a MAC store the girls look SO goddamn caked on in terms on their foundation. I mean, there is heavy coverage and then there is MAC employee coverage which can basically be seen like a block away where you think "hot d**n that girl is wearing too much makeup"

I have 2 eye shadows from them and honestly they are no easier to blend and give no more coverage than my eye shadows purchased for 3 times less at a drug store paired with my eyeshadow base. Don't waste your money on it, waste your parent's/friends money and accept them as gifts if given.

You should actually mix it up when trying new makeup. Don't just stick to any one brand. Find a foundation that works for you, an eyeshadow, mascara, etc. Remember: expensive is not always better.

Go to Sephora and try on some stuff and see what works for you.

But to start, you could try some of these:

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil: It's a really smooth eyeliner that's just wonderful to use. It really does glide on and I can't imagine using any other eye pencil. I LOVE it. Get it at Sephora.

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara: This is the only mascara I have ever used that really does NOT clump. I love this one too. Get it at drugstores.

Clinique Glow Loose Powder: This is a really light powder with a hint of shimmer that really makes your face radiate. Get it at Sephora or Macy's.

These are just some products I swear by. Hope this helps!

ok i think that mac is only good for their eyeshadows and eyeliners. dont get ur mascara from their. for mascara get "bad gal" made by benefit. for cover up.. use bare essentials..it gives u a flawless natural look.. and its great for ur skin!. and i dont think its worth buying brushes from mac. theyre all the same thing. just get some brushes from like walgreens,  cvs..etc.

MAC is good. I like too faced makeup tho. There's videos on youtube that show people who have mixed and matched some of the best colors of MAC. I'd check on there for more ideas.

With MAC I am very picky! I love it when it comes to eyes, cheeks, and lips but foundation wise it seems a bit heavy on the skin. But go by MAC and get yourself a sample and see if you like it!

MAC brushes are the greatest brushes you could invest in. They last the longest time, and they are such great quality. Their eyeshadow is wonderful too. MAC is great because it has subtle colors, and then it has great colors that can be used for stage makeup & pictures, and evenings out. You can't go wrong with MAC because it has so much variety!

It is so worth it, and the best part is that they are cruelty free! Some other great makeup brands are Smashbox, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Benefit, Bobbi Brown, and Origins.

MAC is most definately the best in my opinion and i wear alot of makeup. My advice is go to the mac department and have your makeup done for you, it will give a feel for the makeup, and not only that, they will talk you through it and explain what would look best on your skin color and your type of skin and what brushes work best with what makeup. Good luck I love MAC.

mac is definatly not all that people make it out to be really good but its just another brand of expensive make up, there is no perfect make up out there, just like all the others they need to be reapplied after w hile. if you just experimenting dont rush into buying the really expensive brushes you'll hardly need it that is if you talking bout the fading brush, blending brush etc for now just try the basic stuff.and mac is only one of the few good brand ive used better before napolean perdis is great as well as revlon or maybelline
