Question:

MAJOR SLEEPING PROBLEMs!

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I have major sleeping problems. I'm 14, and a few years ago i used to sleep over my friends nearly every day. Now, I sleep over a friend once or twice a year.

I just can't do it. I lay awake for hours and hours.

Sad, horrible thoughts fill my head and I feel like crying.

Is there any tips you can give me to help me fall asleep at my friends house?

THANKS!

  1. I was the same way, when they would ask me to sleep over I would like beg my Mom to say no because I felt so uncomfortable but this is when I was younger, as I got older we would play stupid games and be up all night to the point we were so tired we'd just pass out.

I was never a big fan of sleep overs, but all I could say is just relax and just know that its only a few hours!

  2. talk to ur frend or listen to ur ipod or nice music to cheer u upp

or dont go to ur frends house if u don wanna

    xoxoxo

  3. I would strongly advise you to see a psychiatrist to get these horrible thoughts away. Talk to someone close to you to see if they can help you.

  4. I had this at your age exactly. It only happened at sleepovers. For some reason at sleepovers, I would get really really scared when I saw that everyone but me was asleep. My heart would start to pound and I felt like I was going to cry.

It's really a mental thing. You need to get yourself to snap out of it when you feel like you're coming even close to getting upset.

What I did was make a list inside of my head of things that I would think about if I couldn't fall asleep. A REALLY long list. (ex: my favourite memories starting from kindergarten lol) This kept my brain pre-occupied, and I'd usually fall asleep while I was making up the list in my head...and I barely ever had to actually start doing the list.

    Hope this helped!

P.S. also, you need to realise that you are not the only one! and that it really doesn't matter if you don't sleep at all that night! The worst that can happen is you stay up thinking of happy memories :), and you'll just sleep the next day!

  5. ok to all of you telling a 14 year old to drink and take sleeping pills....shame on you!!!!

i had a horrible time with homesickness when i was a kid.  the best thing you can do is just keep trying it.  it will get easier.  try to relax, and know that in the morning you can go home.  if you are still having problems, talk with your doctor.

  6. 1]either drink warm milk.

2]take a nice shot of tequila (that helps me)

3]or if its worse take sleeping pills like sleep MD

    btw i'm 14 too

  8. sleeping pills

  9. Bring some valerian root or melatonin... vitamins you can buy over the counter at CVS...

    They're sleep aids.

  10. i know what you mean, i cry everynight cause sad thoughts are running through my head, like exboyfriends and exfriends. its really sad when you really lay down and think about everything going on in your life. it makes you just wanna break down and cry. but what helps me sleep is trying my best not the think about anything, thinking actually keeps you awake. you have to clear your mind. when your going to bed, just imagine a big sky with clouds moving. picture it in your head, but nothing else. only that big blue sky, and youll fall right asleep. another thing that helps is counting up in your head to 300. it helps cause your mind isnt on anything but counting, and it makes you wanna sleep. i try it all the time when i cant sleep and eventually it works. i also cant sleep well, and counting helps, i usually get to 200 and fall asleep (:

  11. what i do is close your eyes and think like your in

    own bed.

  12. i just think..the sooner i go to sleep the sooner ill get to go home in the morning..just pretend your lying in your own bed

  13. one word- alcohol

  14. I gave you question some thought, I think you should seek the help of someone trained in this....Tell them, what you have said on here.

I do think there (could)  be more to the problem.....

  15. well just take some sleeping phills from your doctor

  16. What your experiencing my friend is just anxiety over being in an enviroment that is not totally comfortable to you. When I was in the military the young guys that came in had a real hard time of it at times being away from every thing familiar to them. I would just tell them that they are amongst friends and that nothing was going to happen to them. You need to think about the "truth" of were you are and realize that your not in any danger and everything is really ok. Don't worry it goes away in time but keep trying!

  17. I had that same problem so how i got out of it was this is wat i did   *  Try to go to bed at the same time every day.

        * avoid resorting to naps or sleeping in on weekends to "catch up" on sleep.

        * eat right and exercise regularly.

        * lose or gain weight if needed.

        * seek treatment for allergies, pains, snoring or other problems that disrupt sleep.

        * avoid caffeine and nicotine.

        * don't use alcohol to go to sleep. which u probaly wodnt

        * avoid heavy exercise and arguments in the evening.

        * Relax your mind and body, and once in bed, ZZZZZzzzzzz.

    I DID NOT COPY THIS

    hope i helped

  18. Sounds like depression. I've felt that way before. It's just because you've spent so much time with your friend, that you've become inseperable. Unless you can sleep over, you're going to have to find a way to cope through this. You should occupy yourself...watch a good movie. And later before you go to sleep, give your friend a call and talk to her for a few minutes. Sometimes it can help
