  1. Many people from Germany or Britain decided to carry out a business here during the 90's atractted by the cheap prices and a climate that it's not so hot like in Southern Spain and closer to both countries by plane.

This situation makes both British and Germans to find all kind of services (pubs, plumbers, lawyers...) in their own language so more and more retired (and not yet) finds the island a good place to buy a property.

For Spaniards, Majorca was a main destination to go on the honeymoon during the 80's so most of us have been there sometime. During the 90's and 00's prices got higher and we started to lose interest.

  2. Because it's cheap for them to fly there I think.  I was there this past summer and was a little disgruntled that I had left Germany to spend a week on the beach with...Germans.  I was hoping for some Spanish cuisine and customs but it's not a good place to go for that.

  3. Mallorca is geared up for tourism. It is easy for the British to travel. It is a short flight and relatively cheap. It has hot weather in summer and a temperate climate in winter, though it is cooler than southern Spain. If you are a discerning tourist and require a more upmarket holiday, there are places in the mountains well away from the tourist beaches that cater for that.

Eating out in Mallorca is cheap in comparison to the rest of Europe. Unfortunately, many tourists from the UK still prefer their English food. Spanish cuisine has much to offer and is much healthier than fast food.
