Question:

MALWARE - I clicked on the link in a suspicious fake bank e mail... what will happen to my computer?

I received a fake bank email saying that there was suspicious activity on my account - when I don't even have an account with this bank and never had made one. I know this was fake because the grammar was incorrect and I clicked on the links the e mail provided and each time my computer would not let me access the page. But now I am worried that because I clicked on the links more than once, I am afraid about Malware or some other type of thing getting in to my computer

How do I know they got in to my computer - what kinds of things will happen. And how do I get rid of it?

  2. You should use an antispyware software. You can find information and reviews on anti spyware softwares at the link below.

  3. If your PC would not let you access the page, you are likely ok. But don't click any links in an email. It is much safer to copy and paste the link in your browser.

Being as you noticed the email was fake, you should have deleted it. Curious people are the ones that get infected.

    To double check ........

Run an on demand scan with your anti-virus program.

Download, install, update, and run one or all of these:

    Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

    SUPERAntiSpyware Free

  4. Hi,

first, your security is poor in my opinion.

    Do you have Firewall?

You need HIPS security too. Software based HIPS, warn you every single process which will be started in your system without your permission.

HIPS programs: DefenseWall (paid), GesWall (free), or firewall with implemented HIPS security like Online Armor (free and paid).

You should install one program from my list to prevent accident like this.

You shoud scan now your system these softwares: MalwareBytes Anti-Malware + SUPERAntiSpyware.

    Cheers!
