Question:

MAMA PARAKEET WONT FEED HER BABY'S?

My parakeet has stopped feeding her baby's, the dad was feeding also, but since yesterday they just sit on a perch together and look at the baby's chirping to be fed. The two first to hatch are just over two weeks old and the other four are less than that(you know how one or two will hatch every few days) there were two more that hatched and died, I don't know if she intentionally didn't feed them or if they couldn't compete with the bigger baby's in there all jumping up and begging to be fed. I will hand feed them as a last resort, I have been reading all the dangers of it and am afraid to do it unless I must. Anyone have any advice on getting mom back to feeding, or should I go ahead and feed them? Can I buy the stuff from Pet co?

  1. Yes go ahead and feed them yourself!

You can get the stuff from pet-co it will be just fine. I use "Exact" Hand feeding formula. It is for all baby birds. You will have to use a Syringe to feed.(Without the needle)

Feeding the babies yourself is a good thing it will make them friendly.

When you are feeding them, Only feed them when their crops are EMPTY, not before. Feeding times will vary with your chicks. If you need any more info feel free to contact me.

    Good luck.
