  1. i think it was a bad move by the sox even though they gave up very little to get bay but manny energized the croud and i think he gives them a better shot at winning

  2. Yeah but we needed to get rid of him. If he stayed with the team he'd continue sabotaging us, and we ended up with Jason Bay, who aside from hiting .018 lower than Manny, has equal stats so far this year.

  3. Bad for some of the fans who really enjoyed watching him and wearing his jersey. However, it is probably a good move in general because he is a fairly slow runner and he is not great of there in the outfield. I love the Red Soxs but i think Jason Bay could help them defensively. On offense Jason may not be as strong as Manny, who was a terrific clutch hitter.

  4. Good and bad. Good because Manny was a huge distraction like Mr. Bucks said and they picked up a good player in Jason Bay. Bad because the Red Sox gave up good prospects in Moss and Hansen and Manny was key in the Red Sox success since Ortiz was out.

  5. ....you'd better treasure last years World Series, because you won't be there this year. How do you replace his numbers? They just won't get it done.

  6. Good because Jason Bay is a great hitter

  7. Honestly one of the worst trades (by the Red Sox) in recent memory. Manny was a pain in the A** but hey, most of the great ones are. Look at the whole Bret Farve thing going on right now. Manny was & is still one of the best hitters in all of baseball, he is feared. Jason Bay is a above average outfielder in the NL. Look at JD Drew how good was he when he came over to the AL form the NL? He is doing much better this year, but still isnt a main piece in the lineup like he was in L.A. Now no one has to pitch to Ortiz, his strikeouts will skyrocket from him trying to force it. They will slip down the 3rd place very quickly. If you want a comparison it would be like the Yankees trading away A-Rod for Xavier Nady yea he is an above average guy but there is just no comparison. Basically the Red Sox just tradded away there edge, the respect, & the fear the pictchers have to throw to them, now you can pitch around in the lineup. I belive Bay will be a good player, but not even an all star in the AL. Worse trade i can ever remember. I kinda laughed when i read the writting down below ...They got Jason Bay... its like a your house getting robbed but they left you some toilet paper, ...at least we have something to clean ourselves with... lol

  8. its good and bad thier getting a good player for a good player but thier also losing the heart of thier team

  9. Good riddance is right.  I was a huge Manny supporter until he tanked against the Yankees the other night.  I am so glad that he is gone.

But, Jason Bay does not make the Sox a better team than one with a happy Manny.

Manny will have a good year next season, but will taper off significantly after that.

  10. bad trade he doing goood this year with .299 20 68 .398 .529

he won them 2 world series they could of just waited untill the offseason also they trade Craig Hansen which i think is 2 much for one of  the best hitters in the game

  11. Good move. Manny was a huge distraction for the team. Good riddance.
