  1. Your husband reports to his post by the date given to him.  He will then inprocess and will be put on the waiting list for housing.  If you want to move there right away and live off post they set up the BAH.  First month and maybe second month will come out of your husbands paycheck and then once it kicks in he will be back payed.  If you want to wait for on post housing some places do have a waiting list.  My cousin got married in May and they finally get housing on the 6th.  She stayed put where she was at until now and is enroute to Ft. Stewart.  Anyway, once you have a move date you notify housing on post and let them know when you will be leaving.  They arrange for movers to come pack and move your stuff for you.  If your husband has more questions he can notify the housing department and they will give him print outs of everything he needs to do. Hope it helps!

  2. I highly recommend that once you have your ID card and can get on base you go to the closest base to you and ask if they have a class on moving.  Actually, you can probably call in to their Family Service Center to find out when the next class is.  The class will cover everything about moving from what money you're entitled to and when you can get it as some is authorized to be paid up front, how to arrange for the military move with the Personal Property/Household Good Office (PPO/HHGO) and how to document a PPM (Personally Procured move often called a Dity move) and what the general procedures are for housing.  I've been a Navy wife for 16 years and done 8 moves and just took the class before my 9th move and learned stuff.  I so wish I had known about it before my first move.  It's amazing that my stuff got there given all the mistakes I made.
