MARINES: do you choose your MOS before or after bootcamp?

my husband is going and he is thinking about recon i beg to differ... he has a family.. he also says u get to choose after boot camp not before... what is what??

Tell him to call out his recruiter on that BS. He needs to secure his MOS, prior to boot. He can do any job (MOS), and later go through the recon selection process, if he so chooses. Don't let that recruiter be lazy, make him go through the programs book.(A whole book of MOS's) and secure you hubby a job! To even qualify for force recon he needs to have at least a AFQT of 50 on the ASVAB. Good luck.

Before boot camp.  Although some choose to go in open contract.  To be a Recon Marine you have to try out and make it.  That is after SOI the School of Infantry.

Okay here it is, You pick your MOS after you take your ASVAB test and BEFORE bootcamp.

You pick 3.

1 pick is the one you want the most 2.. second one youd be intereste din and 3.. least interested in.

Which ever is available is what you'll get :)

Depending on your ASVAB score will tell you what MOSs are available to you. So that is why you pick what MOSs you want AFTER the ASVAB test.

BTW .. recruiters will tell you anything and lie out there *** to get you to sign that dotted line. Make sure they are telling you the truth, do research on everything they tell you.
