MASS EFFECT QUESTION: How to heal my squad members?

I don't have anymore medi-gel but they're both in low health and before i head outside (into more danger) i want to take them back to the ship and heal them.

Can I heal them on the ship? How can I heal them without medi-gel? Is there somewhere on the ship where i can heal them?

Some armor mods or squad attributes allow a slow health regeneration. Or if you have the first aid skill.
