  1. The rule with exponents is that when you see a number with an exponent being multiplied by another number with an exponent..you ADD the exponents

    example: x^1/3 (x^4/3) = x^5/3

    a. x^1/3(x^4/3 - 2y^2x^1/3 + 3yx^2)

        x^5/3 - (2y^2)(x^2/3) + 3yx^7/3

For B you must remember that when ADDING Fractions both fractions must have the same denominator

    b. x^3/2(x^1/3 + yx^4/3 + y^2 x^-3/2)

Lets rewrite this equation so that all of the denominators for the variable X are the same

    b. x^9/6(x^2/6 + yx^8/6 + y^2 x^-9/6)

        x^11/6 + yx^17/6 + y^2
