  1. No problem...

    log (10^ (x+3)) = log 0.3

    Log of a power theorem says move the exponent out in front

    (x+3) * log 10 = log 0.3

    log 10 is equal to 1

    (x + 3) = -0.522878745

    Subtract 3 from both sides

    x = about  - 3.522878745

    Good luck to you !!

  2. taking the log of both sides

    (x + 3) (log 10) = log 0.3

    we know that log 10 = , so

    x + 3 = log 0.3

    x = -3 + log 0.3 = -3.52

    ten points! thanks!
