MBBC Jr. International: Carl Christian, Anne Klyve march into final round of Mixed Doubles event
Norway’s Carl Christian Hem-Anne Klyve played with great precision and stamped Allen Hsu- Lisa King en-route to the final of Mixed Doubles Under-22 category in MBBC Jr. International on July 18, 2012.
Though, they wrapped the show in just two segments but still they had to put an extra effort to read favourable figures of 21-15 and 21-18.
Meanwhile, the losing contenders put up a decent show of skills in the semi-final encounter which was staged at Manhattan Beach, California.
The top ranked victorious duo will be up against Taipei shuttlers Henry Liu and Alice Liu in title match of the tournament.
They will surely utilise the confidence which they have earned through a splendid straight-set victory in their most recent encounter.
Carl and Anne forged a productive chemistry in opening game of the match and pocketed a vital match point with a significant difference in the concluding result.
They were bit sluggish in the beginning and remained just one or two steps ahead of their rivals until 5-4 but then a couple of successive rallies took them to dominating position of 9-4.
The twosome of Allen and Lisa, who belong to USA and Barbados respectively, strived hard to place a respectable total before half time but their expedition ended at score position of 8-11.
Later part of the game saw them making a few decent efforts but this time luck was not on their side.
However, Carl-Anne did not squander this opportunity and strengthened their grip with 17-14 in the third quarter of the set.
They bagged four out of ending five points and finished opening game with a striking knock of 21-15.
The Norwegian couple started following game in perfect manner and mounted pressure by piling up an indomitable total of 7-2.
At this stage, Allen and Lisa showed transformed character and challenged their rivals’ supremacy. They narrowed the gap with 6-7 and then got into fighting position with 10-11 before one-minute break.
This revised status turned second half into survival of the fittest as both teams battled hard to achieve their respective goals.
They remained close until 18-17 but then Carl and Anne tipped the scale in their favour with 21-18 margin.
