MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE moves to final four of 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League
A quarter final match of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women saw the MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE quad competing with the Volley BERGAMO team.
The match between the two sides was hosted in the Italian city of Treviglio. The competition took five sets to reach its close at the end of which the team heading for the final four of the championship stood to be VILLA CORTESE.
The score board showed the following final set scores: 26-24, 25-27, 25-18, 20-25 and 18-16.
The coach of the BERGAMO squad, Davide Mazzanti, shared his feelings at the press conference held after the closing of the match in the following words, “I am anyway very proud of my players. This was a real battle and my side showed great character playing
with glowing hearts. However, our opponents played a great golden set. I have to thank all of our fans for their great support tonight.”
Next in line for the MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE squad is the semi final match of one of the most competitive club tournaments held in Europe which will be taking place in Baku from March 24 till March 25.
The player that was able to earn the title of being the top scorer of the match was Makare Wilson of the winning team who was able to keep the pressure on her opponents by tallying a total of 28 points.
The first set of the match started off with both the teams coming out strong against each other and neither letting the other hold the lead for a long period of time. No one was sure where the tables would turn until the end of the frame when the VILLA was
able to bag the opening set of the game at 26-24.
The second set followed the same pattern as the first one but this time around BERGAMO was able to force a tie with a win.
The third set again swung towards the VILLA squad but BERGAMO was able to take the match to a deciding fifth set with a fourth set win at 25-20. After a competitive final set, VILLA was finally able to bag it at 18-16.
