Question:

MCAT Test Question. Please Help. Very Important!?

I am taking the MCAT tomorrow morning for the first time. I did not prepare as much as I'd like to because of personal reasons and I am already saving money to schedule a new test near January.

My question is- I read that at the end of the test it can be "voided" and not graded. Is there any record that the test was attempted if this is done?

Which is better to void the test or the score it and receive a very low score.

  1. Don't void the score. Take it, see what you get and then retake it knowing how you did and the areas you need to work for the next test.

Its really not too bad though. I took it about 5 years ago now and about 60% of my grade (350+ kids) passed enough to get free tuition to state schools. We also heard that they relaxed it since then.

Do your best, get sleep, eat breakfast and take time to breath during the test. Its only paper and a pencil and questions. Its not the end of your life if you don't pass very well and you are already working towards scheduling a retake. Just don't void it... its really not smart to do that.

  2. Don't void it. Take the test, which you will probably score low 20's then take it again and shoot for a 28+. That is a pretty reasonable goal I think and either way as long as you take it again and do reach a good score, they will completely forget about the bomb you put up the first time.

  3. Don't count yourself out or assume you'll get a low score because you didn't prep the way you wanted to. I didn't study for it at all. I'm a single mom and I had three jobs at the time I took it and I did fine ( and I'm no genius). The MCAT is basically a test of everything you should have learned in undergrad. A lot of it involves problem solving and reasoning, not just specific science questions that you do or do not know. You should be fine if you understand the main concepts behind each basic science. I'm not saying it's not a bear, the MCAT is hard. But I, and all my friends who took it, prepared or not, walked out of it thinking they bombed it and we're all doctors now. Get some sleep and go kick some MCAT butt.
