Im doing a very breif descriptive assigment task on painkilling agents that may potentiate coedeine, hydrocodone, etc...all substances that are legally aproved for use of killing pain. I know many opiate substances vary in relation to potentiation but generally what potentiates them the most effectivally.

I know the basics, ,generally but woudn't mind you stating and i apoligize for spelling and grammer, at my level it should be at a far higher level.

  1. Strong inhibitors of certain P450 substrates such as Cimetidine can cause increased serum concentration.

    Sorry for my brevity.

  2. Analgesics like aspirin and acetaminophen have been used to potentiate oral opiates for decades.

Phenothiazines like Phenergan and Thorazine potentiate opiate analgesia.  So do benzodiazepines like Xanax and Valium.  The latter may also make the patient less worried about the pain

A P450 inhibitor will increase the duration of the analgesia, so less has to be used (P450 detoxifies opiates.
