Question:

MEN: Polyurethane condoms? Oil/water based lubricants?

I have a latex allergy and am wondering about latex-free condoms. lambs-skin is not an option in my mind; So can you give me some facts and personal opinions on polyurethane condoms?

I know it conducts body heat better than latex, has no odor, but is not as elastic as latex.

Do you prefer latex or polyurethane condoms? Water based or oil based lubricants?

-Thanks

  1. I can tell you for a fact that silicone lubricants are much slicker and need less reapplication than water-based, and both are condom compatible. Silicone is going to cost a little bit more, but it'll be worth every penny. Go for Eros or System JO silicone, at least one should be available at most adult stores. Do not, do not, do not use oil-based lubricants with any type of condom, it can weaken the material and lead to breaking.

As far as condom material, unfortunately I'm not male so I can't give you a preference, I was just bumming through the site and came across your question. The lube seemed right up my alley. :)

  2. my wife is allergic too, so we had to use them before i got my vasectomy.  to me, there wasnt much difference.  i have never had a condom break or fail, but i was always careful how i used, bought and stored them.

i also like water based lubes best, as they wont damage anything.  some s*x toys dont like the oil based lubes.  also it just cleans up easier.
