Question:

MEN who open doors for WOMEN?

would you be offended if the woman opted for another door when she noticed that you were doing this?

Would you automatically take it personally? I do this when I have a feeling that they have underlying motives, but in general, I always accept with appreciation.

  1. If anyone is kind enough to hold a door for you, say thank you.  Accept any kindness with grace and gratitude.  And be gracious and considerate of others.

Ever independent and self-sufficient, I changed my mind the day another woman pushed ahead of me to get into a gas station, then slid her hand around the edge of the opened door, and slammed it behind her -- on my arm, breaking it.  B@()*^)u!!

  2. Yes I would take it personally that's just rude.  To completely rebuke a show of courtesy is quite distasteful.

  3. no it is called being polite.

  4. Understand that courtesy and respect have to be a two-way street or they are nothing.

Women are empowered and entitled  to show just as much courtesy and respect to men. It is not take, take, take. It is give and take.

  5. The day will come when men don't so eagerly open the door for that age group. Then see how you feel.

  6. Hi, take courtesy from either s*x when you can get it. There's far too little of it.

  7. That is just rude.

  8. Underlying Motives? lol its just someone with good enough manners to hold a door open for you, I dont think anyone expects any kind of reward for that. In answer to your question i dont take it personally. By opening a door for someone i have displayed my gentlemanly conduct.

  9. Some men's motives I'm sure are polite but when the guy is leering at you as you approach and actually stands in the doorway (y'know like holding it open with his back) so that you are forced to come into very close contact with him in order to enter, it's just plain pervey and I take the other door, and to be honest could care less if it offends him.

  10. That is just rude.  If you think he is going to harm you, you need to get out of there.  But unless you know the guy personally and he's a perv...you're just being a yach.

  11. I just take it that the first person to the door opens it for whomever may be behind.  I've opened the door for myself, I've opened the door for men, women - whatever . . .  Who CARES who opens the door?

  12. This goes to show you how insane this whole gender equality/empowerment/feminism/mysoginist... c**p is getting! That people have to analyze the motives of someone opening a door for them. You are sad.

  13. I would tell me that she's a feminist and doesn't want  any man to open a door for her.

  14. yes i would take it personally.

  15. no i don't take it personally.  I open doors for both men and women, its just courtesy given out for free.  Take it while you can.

  16. Honestly, when a woman does this, i laugh.

    It's 0% offensive, but i find it...i don't know...weird... for them to do this...

  17. I attend a very small liberal minded college. There, this is common etiquette. Once, when I was late for class, I got yelled at by a person behind me who I didn't  hold the door open for.
