METS - vs - PHILLIES !!?

Wow - what a game the phillies looked dead but they score 6 in the ninth to jump back in first place !!

I know that the phillies are not hitting right now but I still pick the to win the NL east

Who do you pick and why ??

I am very glad that I am able to stand by, defend and support my decision entering spring training and opening day. Actually, I am much more confident today, that the phillies will win the nl east. After a night like tonight, I can't help but be amazed by my Phils. They absolutely should not have won tonight, but they did. Santana did shut down the philies and, even with a below average starting pitching performance from the phils, they managed to win. Every single day the phils bullpen is lights out, and the phillies know how to have late inning rallies. They have the best infield defense, arguably, in the league, which definitely helps to make up for their notnso great starters. There's something about them...something unexplainable. Their drive..their talent and potential is overflowing this year. They've been in a slump for a long time. They will come out and surge, conveniently, while the mets enter their cool down from their hot streak. After a ten game hit streak, if the mets had what it takes to win, they'd be running away with the division.

The mets are showing their first sign of choking, and I am LOVING the phils chances at this point.

Phillies b/c i love them, and they have the offense, pitching that most of the time keeps them in the game (key word: most), good defense, their bullpen (which has stank in past years) is doing amazing.....they have heart, drive, passion, and guts...everything needed to win the NL East....it will be a fight but they'll win

HAHAHA poor metropolitians!! They got to blame the third baseman for sending 2 runners with no outs to score which the phillies got them out.

and marlins are going to win the N.L east. we've already killed the braves today 4-0, 1 hit shutout and already won the phillies series 2-3

I pick the Phils, because for the last month to month and a half they have been slumping, and yet they are still in first place. Also, we all know what comes after a long slump right?  ......A surge of offense and wins. How do I know this? The Mets' had slumped for about the first 2 months, and now they broke out of that slump with a major winning streak. I do not know if the Phils' have ended their slump, but it is inevitable that they will eventually.

Yesterday I would have said the Mets.

now, with tears in my eyes I say the Phillies. this team just does not give up. they proved that last year, and this year they will do it again. Not hitting? That looked like an awful lot of hitting to me.

I hope the Phils can hold onto first place all the way to the end, I know there is still a lot of game left but you can never count them out, I think tonight proved that. I just hope the Phils offense can get those bats swinging a lot more, because once they do there will be no stopping them.

The Phillies are the favorite. This is the same Mets team that crashed and burned into the worst collapse in MLB history last year. They added Johan Santana for one purpose, and one purpose only - to beat the Phillies...too bad that bullpen up there couldn't hold up their end of that deal. Phils have a superior lineup and a superior bullpen. If the starting pitching can find ANY stability at all, they will win the division by 4 or 5 games.
