The essential collection comes with Metal Gear Solid for PS1, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for the PS2, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for the PS2. It says Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance will play fine. MGS2 had a problem that got fixed via firmware update. However, MGS3 will have problems playing.

The reason is because the 80GB emulates the PS2 chip. Some PS2 games won't play properly on the 80GB. However, the 20 and 60GB HAVE the PS2 chip inside. Although, I still enjoy my 80GB.

Always check the link above for PS2 games you want to see that are compatible on the 80GB. I hope a firmware update lets us play MGS3 on the 80GB properly. I own an 80GB and I might get this essential collection someday.
