  1. Fancy mice is a term to describe mice that have been selectively bred for pet or for show.

  2. They're the same species. "Feeder" mice are usually albino, but you can feed any color mouse to a snake if you want, and you can keep any colored mouse as a pet.

    "Fancy" is a term used for different colors, patterns, or coat types of mice to make them seem more special. People seem to think they're getting a better pet if they get a"fancy" one.

    There is NO difference between a "feeder" mouse and a "fancy" mouse. If you get them from pet stores, they are ALL going to be poorly bred and probably unhealthy. Mice in pet stores are usually from "suppliers" (like puppy mills) and BYB's who don't really care about the health of your animals.

    The healthiest mice are the ones who are selectively bred by responsible, small-scale breeders. They can be any color, even albino. These are NOT the mice you find in pet stores - like I said, all pet store mice are essentially the same. Even the "fancy" mice can be inbred and sickly.

    But to dispel a myth, inbreeding isn't what CAUSES health problems. Many responsible breeders use inbreeding deliberately to create healthier and better mice - inbreeding high-quality mice will produce more high-quality mice. However, inbreeding sickly, unhealthy mice (pet store mice) is only going to produce more sickly, unhealthy mice, and with some genetic problems, they'll start showing up more frequently after several generations of inbreeding.

  3. fancy mice are selectively bred for showing and certain traits/coloring they can live 1-3 years (sometimes more)

    feeder mice arent and are usually inbred since they arent separated at the pet shops since theyll be killed soon anyways. inbreeding severly shortens their lifespan (down to a few months)

    feeder mice usually arent as nice since people dont tame them becuase they wont be used for pets (although one could be tamed like any other, they just usually arent since theres no reason to)

  4. fancy mice hair is usually shinier =0

    and better to feed snakes with.. other than that ..nothing..

    BTW PLZ DONT FEED YOUR MICE TO A SNAKE!! =0

  5. they are all the same but if you cant get it off your mind ask your local vet.or you can look it up. here r some possible websites;

    -mouse.com

    -mouse breeds.com

    -miceTypes.com

    you could also ask a petstore employee

  6. Yeah me neither, what is the difference even in fancy and other. Well i know fancy mice are accually better mice to feed your snakes or whatever because of there slender bone structure. =P. Not the point tho' i know. yes, feeders can be spotted and all sorts! Some fancy mice are even gray, don't know if you knew. They look just like normal field mice but there bone structure is a bit more petite.

  7. I believe that there really isn't any difference. The fancy mice are just selectively bred to produce certain colors which are considered "fancy". I am not sure if they do this with mice but with fancy rats in petstores, the store just labels the not so popular colored rats as feeders and keeps the prettier rats as pets. So if you adopt a feeder, your adopting a fancy rat too. I think this might be the same with mice.
