  1. Sadly there are no rules for tryouts at most schools. The coaches are given total freedom. I'm a coach and tennis teacher, and I was amazed at the knowledge or the lack of knowledge that some coaches had about tennis.

Just give the coach eye contact, pay attention, and be willing to work hard. If you don't make it this year keep trying.

  2. usually, an amount of kids will try out. there are usually around 9-13 kids on the team depending on the coach. try outs are for 2 or 3 days at my school and they analyze the player and try to figure out whose on the team. If there arent a lot of kids trying out, then no cuts. depending on how many kids try out, there may be cuts or no cuts

  3. 1. It really depends on your school . . .cause different schools have different routines and different expectations.

    2. As for what you should work on . .. go ask the teacher that heads these tennis tryouts or ask one of the people that is in this tennis team.

    3. Practice all of your strokes(back, foward), volleying, serving. Get your stamina up too ... .your strokes should be flawless. They're probably looking for technique . . .the better your technique . .more chances of getting in.

    4. I think that you must be able to play a decent game of tennis( it doesnt have to be perfect . . .but the ball speed and strokes should be good and the ball should be passed between you and your tennnis partner more than once) for you to get in.

    5. Practice

    6. Good luck!

  4. I just moved out from middle school, and I'm going for the high school tryouts. It really depends on what your coach wants. And also on the number of people trying out. For example, during my tryouts, we never had many people so my coach put just about everyone on the team. Even if they were below average. So you should practice before the tryouts just in case. For me tryouts were justrallying with another person, and showing my coach what kinds of shots I had. But I also suggested having challenges so the coach could get a picture of the better players. So if you're ready, then ask your coach if you can have challenge matches. But keep in mind the main thing is to practice. Hope your tryouts go well. Good luck!
