Haven't you heard?  Global warming is also responsible for record cold temperatures across the globe, record warm temperatures across the globe, more rain, less rain, high oil prices, tsunamis, toilet paper shortages, and the heartbreak of psoriasis.

So what! Climate instability is a symptom of global warming. Heat is the engine that drives the weather.  As the oceans warm up,the rising columns of warm air force the jet stream to change course.  The undulating path of the jet stream can pull down very cold Arctic air.  The more displaced the jet stream gets,the more weather records are broken. Take the unusually severe drought in the Southeast.  The jetstream is preventing any significant rain from falling there. Instead,there are killer storms along the "dry line", just to the north and west of the drought area.  As weather records are broken now every year,how wide can the parameters of climate get before life begins to suffer?  How high can record high temps get? How much record cold can people endure? How much record rainfall is too much? The rest of the intelligent world has been aware of global warming for at least 20 years now.  Back then,the 'deniers' were calling for more research on the subject before doing anything. Now the data is in.  There is NO denying anymore!  We should have done something 20 years ago! We once had a President that wanted to make us energy independent by the year 2000!  Instead ,we got Reagan. The very first thing he did was have the solar panels on the White House removed! That move helped the terrorists gain power in the Middle East!  They got wealthy from our appetite for oil.  Now look where we are! You can go on choosing not to understand what is happening,but when the next bizzare deadly weather event comes,don't start trying to understand it then. It'll be to late!

1.Minnesota's record temperature is in the negative 60's.

2.Global Warming is not real, scientists are convincing us there is more extreme weather and that the sea levels are rising. In the past 50 years the sea levels have "not" been rising. As for the extreme weather, there has not been an increase of extreme weather since we have started documenting weather. Also, people talking about the the Antarctic icecap melting and glaciers shrinking are unreliable. Only 10% of the Antarctic Icecap is really melting, the rest is actually thickening. Most of the worlds glaciers are not shrinking but growing. About 30% of the worlds glaciers are melting.

Local variations hae nothing to do with global warming. here in Georgia, we're having a warmer than average winter.  Which has nothing to do with global warmiing, either. Global warming refers to the overall long-term trend in global temperatures.

Here in MN, Global Warming is a joke.  In a survey by the Star Tribune (the most liberal newspaper in MN), only 27% of those polled believe in Global Warming 27%!, the rest:  54% didn't believe in it at all,  13% were pretty sure it was false, and the remainder were people who had no opinion.

4 of the 5 past winters in MN have been below average for temperatures, we haven't had a ton of snow in the past 5 years, but there's a recorded cycle here.  MN started collecting weather observations in 1854 at Fort Snelling, and yes, we go through cycles of warm and cold winters, snowy vs not-snowy winters...

Yes, it's winter here.  Yes it gets cold here, so cold that people really do doubt all these AGW and GW people.  How can there be AGW or GW when it hits 40 below?  How come our spring doesn't come any earlier?  Or our fall later?  Why is it that our summers aren't any hotter?  3 out of the last 5 summers were also Cooler than average...  2 were wetter than normal, 2 were drier than normal, 1 was normal.

Why is it that Global warming doesn't 'count' in MN?

In an interesting note: (aside from all the debate)

I have taken a pot of boiling water, right from the stove, outside, thrown the water (just near boiling) up into the air of a -45f night (2003) and the water evaporated in mid air.  No water hit the ground!  And the remaining water still in the pot froze to the side in under 1 minute.  Very cool!

Don't confuse local weather with global climate.  It's very hot in Australia today.

Isn't it interesting that if there's a warm week in summer, that's considered proof that global warming is real.  If there's a hurricane during hurricane season, well, that's offered as proof global warming is real.

But have a very, very cold 2 months in a row, well that just because it's winter and this is normal and should be expected.

Global warming is a science that chooses the data to fit the theory.  If the data doesn't fit, it must be dismissed!
