hey i have a few MLA questions:

(these are the sentences followed by the question in CAPS)

1) Years later lots of people reflected on the occupation period:

quotequotequotefourlinesi...

(SHOULD I HAVE THE COLON THERE? and THE QUOTE IS INDENTED CORRECT?)

2) Little Bro, then a young, happy kid, recalls the importance of laying low in the eyes of the n***s. “This is a quotequotequote....

(SHOULD THE PERIOD BE A COLON INSTEAD?)

3) Yet even after barely recovering, he returned to business: “This is a quote.....

(SHOULD THAT COLON BE A PERIOD INSTEAD?)

4) Why did the world sit and watch, respected in their chairs?

(SHOULD "their" BE "its" INSTEAD?)

okay. the sentences actually make sense, i just changed them a little for this question.

  1. 1. it depends on what your quote is.  If it goes on another tangent i'd say use a period.  If it's tied in directly with what you're saying then use one.  

    2. period is correct.

    3. period

    4. their is correct but you'd have to change it to "why did those of the world....".  If you used its you'd have to change the pluralization of 'chairs' which would make for awkward sentence structure.
