MLB 2011 Pre-season Team Rankings - Part 3
Number 21 - New York Mets
With a new General Manager, Sandy Alderson and a new Manager, Terry Collins the Mets should be able to do well. But before anything else, they need to refuel their players like Angel Pagan and R. A. Dickey who had the highest statistics among the team in
2010.
Number 22 - Chicago Cubs
They got an impressive left hand batter in the form of Carlos Pena that is definitely a plus point. Unless they want to be below the Brewers and Cardinals once again, they need to add another arm to their rotation which currently has Randy Wells, Jeff Samardzija
and Thomas Diamond on board.
Number 23 - Baltimore Orioles
Regardless of how far they will actually reach in the competition, it is guaranteed that they will give the Yankees and the Red Sox something to worry about. J. J. Hardy and Mark Reynolds in the team have definitely gotten the fans excited.
Number 24 - San Diego Padres
Why the Padres decided to ship Adrian Gonzalez to the Red Sox definitely remains a mystery. After a very competitive start and finish last year, one wonders why the Padres did not hold on to Gonzalez and instead made a choice that would leave them out of
the spot light.
Number 25 - Seattle Mariners
They made quite some moves this year. The Mariners added Jack Cust and Miguel Olivo to help with their defence and let go of Jose Lopez, replacing him easily with Brendan Ryan. Seattle is desperate for something successful this season. They will go all out
for some victories.
Number 26 - Cleveland Indians
The Indians were quiet throughout the off-season, the only move that alerted the other teams of their presence was the return of Le Bron. The team does have a decent line-up with some considerable depth. Look for a decent run from the Indians this year in
the regular season.
Number 27 - Houston Astros
The recently signed on Bill Hall should result in a better defence and more power within the team. The Astros will come out swinging to try to dominate early in the regular season.
Number 28 - Arizona Diamondbacks
They had the worst bullpen last year, a sad 59 percent. The Diamondbacks need to improve and they showed some signs by adding on J. J. Putz who has saved 106 out of 136 opportunities.
Number 29 - Kansas City Royals
The Royals are looking to put in a good performance during the regular season and give some of the top tier teams a decent run for their money. Their minor league system may have recently been named the best in baseball but they need quite a lot to make
a mark this year. Their rotation is definitely questionable with quite a lot of holes in it which would prevent them going further in the competition.
Number 30 - Pittsburgh Pirates
New skipper Clint Hurdle will definitely make a much needed difference in the team. The squad still needs other improvement before they can even think of making it beyond the division, if they even manage to make it till there.
Those were the positions of all the MLB teams, as of now. They were based on their play-off performances and their previous performances. Nothing can be set in stone, since it is baseball and you never know when the underdog might knock off the Champions
from their throne.
