  1. Sure - though they won't get the attention that higher round picks will.  They'll have to fight a bit more for a spot, but they wouldn't be getting drafted if the team didn't think there was some chance, however small, that they could make the majors.

Some late-round picks that have made the majors include:

    - Mike Piazza - 62nd round pick in 1988

    - Keith Hernandez - 42th round pick in 1971

    - Junior Spivey - 36th round pick in 1996

    - Kenny Rogers - 39th round pick in 1982

Travis Phelps, who was selected in the 89th round in 1996 and was a relief pitcher for Tampa Bay in '01 and '02, is the lowest pick to ever make the majors.  (Since that time, the draft has been limited to 50 rounds.)

  2. Mike Piazza. 62nd Round Pick. Future Hall of Famer.

    Enough said.

  3. There are plenty that have. You just have to work hard and use what skills you have to fill a need. When an opportunity to play arises, you have to take advantage of that opportunity. It's a little harder because the earlier-round guys get the first shots but in the end it's all about getting the job done. I'm friends with a minor-league manager and he always says "If you produce, you play. It's that simple."

  4. Most of those picks are usually used on either players to fill out the minor leagues or high schoolers who probably won't sign. It's a small chance that they'll make the majors.
