MLB Feature: Who can take New York Yankees to World Series? - Part 1
One of the hottest topic nowadays in Major League Baseball is whether or not the New York Yankees will be able to make through the World Series, especially when Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers and Boston Red Sox are exhibiting their best ever form
in MLB regular season. The Yankees have weak pitching depth, their inconsistency with batting, their relatively weak record against this season’s top teams are some of the most highlighted topics of the time.
Besides all the odds against them, there are few points the Bambino Bombers have better than any other teams presently in the lime light. The ability to rebound even in the last innings, strike back after three or more straight loses and special ability
to produce a huge number of runs in a single game are said to be the most dangerous knacks in the American League’s club. However, debates among experts on predictions raised by some announcing the Yankees up-coming World Series Champions are alive.
It raises a question, who can take New York Yankees to first position on victory stand? The probable answer would be “batting squad” because Carsten Charles Sabathia alone cannot win all seven games, especially when the gritty hurler has been scheduled to
play only for one competition. However, analysis of batting camp provides strong back up to prediction.
Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson, Alex Rodriguez and Nick Swisher when join hands, they can become a nightmare for any pitcher without any exception. A brief recap of the performances of each of these batters can make an argument
stronger.
Derek Jeter:
It would be difficult to find a MLB fan unaware of the Derek Jeter’s post-season heroism. Despite being under constant criticism due to his defence, the New York Yankees’ captain entertained the spectators and his real game -- Post-Season is just a few days
away.
Although his batting averages are below his usual averages in regular season, the most consistent player of all time has managed to get .299 in 106 games with 133 hits and 69 runs. The reason for his below average performance was associated with emotional
and physical pressure of the chase to 3000th hit of the career. He also did not appear in 2011 MLB All-Star game to have some rest.
The day he made his 3000th was also his best game of the season. He not only touches his 3000th hit against David Price of Tampa Bay Rays but also became the second player in the baseball history to touch five hits on five at-bats.
Although he became the only player in the MLB to score 3000 hits only for a single club-New York Yankees, he did not stop his journey and keep on touching to reach 133 in no time.
Jeter is considered the giant of Post-season performances and it is the only reason he has been awarded with the title of “Captain Clutch” and “Mr. November”. His post season heroics includes second place in triples (4), fourth in RBIs (57), fourth in home
runs (20), and sixth in stolen bases (17) and base on balls (63). His 147 post-season games and 599 at-bats along with 185 hits and 101 runs are also a record in MLB. Since quick shortstop player joined line-up in 1995, the Yankees have made to post-season
every year except 2008.
His performance in August depicts the highlights of his career. After reaching to 3000 hits, the right-hand batter has given a huge jump to his batting averages. He now has .422 averages as compare to .292 in July. He has played 38 hits, 19 runs, 12 RBIs
and four-second bases in just 94 at-bats in August. Looking at the solid retaliation from the Captain, the Yankees side is now looking to get another World Series.
