MLB Player Outlook: All eyes on Tampa Bay Rays’ Elliot Johnson
After have a tremendous Spring Training session, Tampa Bay Rays’ Elliot Johnson is attracting a significant amount of tension for his brilliant performances. He has been putting on a virtual show of his versatility as the Rays are having a decent spring
session before the regular season begins.
Johnson has been happy with his recent performances in Spring Training as he recently set the record for stolen bases (11) for the Rays’ in the session. "Let's see if I can make some records during the regular season," Johnson said. "Those seem to hold a
little bit more weight and improve your payday a little bit more than the Spring Training ones do."
Elliot is on target to probably break some records for the Rays during the regular season. His tremendous talent is really beginning show and the team are enjoying every minute of it. However, the person who has been the most impressed by his recent performance
is Ray’s manager Joe Maddon.
"He's aggressive, he knows when to [steal a base], he studies things, he's very bright, he asks good questions and he's playing well any place you put him," Maddon said. "And plus, the at-bats have been very good, too."
It seems that Johnson is coming into his own, as after 10 seasons with Rays, he is now showing his true potential. The player has undoubtedly matured over the years and is now ready to accept the challenges that the regular season will pose for him. The
fans are starting to take notice of Johnson as a potential player that can help guide the team to some post-season success this year.
The Rays are desperate for a good performance during the regular season and it seems that Johnson may be the player they look to for some inspiration. If he remains healthy, Johnson will definitely have a positive impact for the Rays during the grueling
regular season which is scheduled to start in just a few days time.
There is a very good chance that Elliot will be given the opportunity to be on the final roster for Opening Day, although nothing has been confirmed by the team, it looks very likely. The spring session has been a good opportunity for Johnson to show off
his talents and motivate his team-mates into performing at their optimum levels. This is the reason why the Rays have had a tremendously successful Spring Training.
Elliot has given the Rays some hope that they will be able to compete against some of the top tier teams in Major League Baseball. If the rest of the team picks up their game, there is not telling how far they might go during the regular season. The Rays
will want Johnson to repeat the same type of performances in the regular season that he is currently having in the spring session.
It will be interesting to see how much confidence Elliot has managed to gain during Spring Training. The team is coming off an extremely successful session and it remains to be seen if they can manage to carry their winning momentum forward into the regular
season. The fans are keeping their fingers crossed in the hope that Johnson can guide the team to some decent success this year.
