MLB Player Profile: Ben Revere
Minnesota Twins’ outfielder, Ben Revere displayed a radiant performance in preceding games as he hit number of home-runs and RBIs during the second half of the regular season. He also rated himself in top outfielders throughout his MLB career. Born on May
3, 1988, Revere is an outfielder in Twins’ roster and stands 5ft 9in with weight of 170 lbs.
The 23-year-old Revere has only one year of experience in his professional MLB career. He was a natural athlete and had great talent in baseball. Due to his remarkable efforts in college baseball, he was geared up to make his place in the initial round of
MLB Draft during 2007. Before playing his first-round, Revere joined Lexington Catholic High School to display his God-gifted abilities.
Revere was awarded an MVP title due to his amazing performance in Lexington, KY. He did not sign any contract after the Minor Leagues’ draft and become a free agent until the next year. After playing his debut game in the first round, Revere earned much
fame due to his exceptional performance against the rivals as he batted with an average of .325 and was also listed in the Gulf Coast League Postseason All-Star during 2007.
Twins’ officials kept an eye on Revere’s performance and added him in their 40-man Minor League’s rosters. He made his debut on similar day and executed particularly well throughout the Minor League season. In 2007, Revere was selected by Beloit Snappers,
where he proved his spot by raising his batting average to .379. He had 10 triples and 44 stolen bases in that season.
Revere performed extremely well in different Leagues and became the well-known player in Minor Leagues. He was an ace for Twins roster due to his promising average and gave them some incredible victories to the Twins. Revere joined different mini leagues
to enhance his batting tactics. He got many awards like MIDW Player of the Year, Sherry Robertson Award for Twins, MIDW Prospect of the Year and MIDW Mid-season MVP.
2008 season also went remarkable for Revere as he was selected in the High Class A All-Star team of Baseball America. He became the second best prospect in the Twins’ roster due to his weekly performance. Then, he was little bit shaky with the bat at the
end of 2008 as Revere suffered some minor injuries and infections. After having a recovery from surgical treatment, Revere retained his form and was able to play the spring training season.
The weather of injuries happened with nonstop interval for but he recovered before the start of 2009. Revere played a key role in his return game and smashed back-to-back home runs to give Twins a persuasive win. He joined Fort Myers and began the first
half of 2009 season with a promising batting average of .342. Revere had 22 stolen base, 23 RBIs and 32 runs during that span.
In the next half of the 2009 season, Revere batted with a full confidence and hit decisive RBIs with high grand slams. That season was most productive for him and the Twins. Revere showed his stylish act in his fielding as well. He gave the Twins some unbelievable
victories also by making stunning catches at left and right-fields.
Revere began his 2010 season with MLB and joined the team as a replacement for Denard Span. He also saved some crucial runs for his team. Revere played frequently for the Twins as their experienced players suffered some injuries at that time. July 15, 2011
was a memorable day in his professional career as Revere played a dominant role in the game against Kansas City Royals.
Revere’s career has been dense and a slight dip in form is usual. However, he should express himself to be a muscular player with a strong recovery in this season to help the Twins to the postseason.
