MLB Player Profile: Eric Hosmer
If there is something that brightens the prospect of one’s advancement in early age, it is one’s talent. Whenever the name Eric John Hosmer is mentioned, the talent radar gets an automatic beep. This first baseman has recently hit the headlines for his increasingly
complimentary performances.
Born on October 24, 1989 he became the third overall pick for the Kansas City Royals in draft for the year 2008. Soon enough he would find his way into Major League Baseball. In 2009, he had already become the part of bigger games. However, much as the luck
was not on his side, he struggled to put on display what he was invariably known for.
In 2010, nevertheless, Hosmer started evincing his flair as he did it by keeping everyone in awe. His return was a treat to watch after a struggling 2009. Hosmer had 68 RBIs to his credit with 15 home-runs that came his way, holding a hitting average of
.344. And when the ups and downs had such a rapid pace, the player has to exercise much caution.
Hosmer commented on his performances. “The first year was a tough year, going through a couple different injuries and just going through the long year, you know. It was really tough, I learned from it, and I felt really comfortable coming into this year,
starting at Wilmington after being there at the end of last year, being at every ballpark, and just being comfortable with the league.”
Hosmer is a brilliant player with a tremendous amount of talent. Although he did have a tough 2009, his next year was much better. He worked out during the offseason to maintain his strength and fitness levels. This helped dramatically as he knows that to
be effective in baseball, you have to maintain an optimum level of fitness during the grueling regular season.
Young as he is, he seems to have learnt a lot of lessons from the minor and major mistakes that he consciously or unwittingly committed. That is what an inherently good trait of a budding player remains. Having got an incredibly early exposure to the Major
League Baseball, he maintains his poise and comfortably plays once he enters in the ballpark.
With a .254 batting average in 2008, much has changed now. It was 2009, it was already .344 which established some evidence of this amazingly talented player’s excellence in the game. The first baseman is making a glorious rise to fame and flawless excellence
in the sport in the age of 22. Understandably, this march will continue to perfection.
Eric Hosmer of the Kansas City Royals has played a total of 114 games in the career so far. Having remained at-bat 461 times, he has scored 56 runs with 132 hits to his credit and 17 homeruns. All the same, his 69 RBIs make a great point for his individual
performance with a .286 average and .462 SLG.
Although his team has failed to live up to the expectations of the fans owing to more loses than wins, Eric Hosmer is playing his part and contributing with utmost dedication. As his career progresses, there are more doors to open for him. And as he has
shown with his excellent performance, he will make inroads into the bigger league teams once the time comes.
