MLB Player Profile: Ryan Braun
If there is anything a fiercely ambitious player desires it is to serve the team to his best and to be a regular contributor. This ambition then translates into the player’s own rapidly improving credentials. Ryan Braun is one such player. Born on November
17, 1983 he is the All-Star left fielder representing the Milwaukee Brewers in Major League Baseball.
The American right hander commenced his career in 2003 when he was declared the “National Freshman of the Year” by Baseball America while representing the University of Miami. Having identified and explored an enormous amount of talent that came with the
player, the Milwaukee Brewers decided to draft him for the Major Leagues in 2005.
That was the year, coupled with the well-calculated decision by the Milwaukee Brewers that proved auspicious for this left fielder. By 2006, he had already won the 2006 Minor League Player of the Year. All the same, in the coming year, he made another strong
case for his flair, becoming the National Rookie of the Year 2007.
It’s worthwhile to mention that when he was drafted to the team in 2005 Major League, he got a big sum of 2.45-million-dollars contract as a third baseman where he batted .341 in the ten games that he played. Once the regular season started in 2007, he consecutively
won National League Rookie of the month awards in June and July.
His career has seen the rise and that is reason why he is being portrayed as the role model for the youngsters. “I think inherently being the position that you are in you are going to be a role model. So because of that you might as well make the most of
it and set a good example and a positive example and that is my goal.”
Having distinguished himself from all the contemporaries with the consistency that is pretty much a remarkable trait of this player, he likes remaining in a competitive environment. With the passage of time, he wants to throw down his gauntlet, doing more
not only for himself but also for the team that he represents.
The coming together of new guys, he thinks, will add to this competition. “It is fun to see a lot of new guys. There is a lot of competition. I think competition brings out the best in guys. It is exciting. You can feel the enthusiasm, you can sense the
intensity and you realize that guys are fighting for their positions and aware of it. I think that is healthy.”
In 2009, he was once again voted for National League Sporting News All Star Team which in itself a great achievement given the fact that it was the second time he got it. In the same year, he was the recipient of the Outfielder Silver Slugger of National
League. Both the awards were bestowed upon him in two consecutive years.
This third time he was nominated and eventually awarded the NL Outfielder Silver Slugger Award was in 2010: The third in row for the amazing player. After the decade of the 1980’s when Cecil Cooper won three consecutive awards, Ryan Braun was the second
player starring the Milwaukee Brewers who won this glory.
Also, even this year he was named for the 50 greatest current players in the sport, where he was 16th in the rank with 5.93 million votes coming his way. Such a long list of fans shows where the player stands when it comes to fame.
In the 699 games that he played so far, Bruan has an average of .311 with 153 home-runs to his credit and having scored 487 runs that include impressive 505 RBIs.
