MLB Records: Top ten players with the most RBIs in 2011 MLB regular season – Part 2
With Matt Kemp leading Major League Baseball in most RBIs and Prince Fielder, Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano are holding the second, third and fourth position, 2011 MLB regular season has passed. Like previous years, many surprising performers emerged
while some well established hitters failed to display even their average performance.
Adrian Gonzalez of Boston Red Sox has made some brilliant contribution for his club throughout the season and now holds the fifth position with 117 RBIs in the 2011 regular season. Gonzalez achieved this record maintaining an exceptional .338 batting average
over his 630 at-bats of 159 games. He also holds the second position in batting average after Miguel Cabrera of Detroit Tigers and he was nominated as the AL Player of the Month for June 2011 with an exceptional .401 average. He was a part of the All-Star
Game, in which he made the only run from the AL and also finished second in the Home Run Derby with 11 home-runs. Gonzalez was regarded as the most crushing player from the Red Sox by baseball experts.
The most devastating team of the 2011 season, Philadelphia Phillies achieved this high position not only due to their pitchers but also due to the stunning performance of their batting line-up, especially by Ryan Howard. The 7-year veteran hitter posted
116 RBIs with a solid average of .253 to place him at the sixth spot in most RBIs.
Playing as first baseman throughout the season, the 31-year-old lefty also made his impression with 33 home-runs. It was Howard’s sixth back-to-back 30 home-runs and 100 RBIs season, a franchise record for the Philadelphia Phillies. Howard received an Achilles
tendon injury in the ninth inning of the fifth game of the National League Division Series, which resulted in the elimination of the club from the 2011 World Series journey.
Ryan Braun of Milwaukee Brewers and Mark Teixeira of New York Yankees both share the seventh spot with their 111 RBIs. A little edge Braun has over Teixeira is his high batting average. Braun has a .332 batting average in his 563 at-bats of 150 games while
using 156 games and 589 at-bats to post a .248 batting average. However, Teixeira beat Braun in the home-run competition, as he has launched 39, six more than Braun’s 33 homers. Both Teixeira and Braun played some extraordinary games for their clubs. They
displayed their skills to take their respective teams to the post-season.
The exceptional hitter of the Texas Rangers, Michael Young has managed to gain the eighth position scoring 106 RBIs. The unorthodox right-hander drove his club into some crucial wins in the 2011 season. Although he made just 88 runs, but his 213 hits contributed
in many of the Rangers wins. His .338 batting average took him to third position in MLB but he made only 11 home-runs, primarily playing at different position from Designated hitter to third base and first base.
Ninth spot has become overloaded because of many players with 105 RBIs. Chicago White Sox Paul Konerko, Texas Rangers’ Adrian Beltre, Detroit Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera, Boston Red Sox Jacoby Ellsbury and Colorado Rockies’ Troy Tulowitzki all hold the same position.
Only difference in their batting performance can be established due to their batting averages. Cabrera has the best with a .344 average, followed by Jacoby’s .321 and then Troy with .302. Paul and Beltre may be placed at the lowest place in ninth position
for their .300 and .296 average respectively.
Clubs no doubt gained maximum of their batters to make an impression in the 2011 regular season. Players who made the most RBIs are among the chart leaders of the season.
