The San Francisco Giants were aware of the fact that their dreams were now within their reach and after 60 long years, they could finally lift the big trophy which had evaded them for so long. The last chance they got at the monumental
piece of history was back in 2002 and now they were back again for a chance at the glory in the World Series. It was no surprise that the team was excelling in the stage so far. Manager Bruce Bochy was at the heart of the rally and his tactics got the better
of Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies in the playoffs leading up to the big event. Now, after being crowned the National League Champions, there was an opportunity to do what had not been done in a while. With a 2–1 lead in the competition, rookie Madison
Bumgarner made his way to the mound, in front of a 51,920 strong crowd that was cheering ecstatically in the Rangers Ballpark.
While the Giants took inspiration from their strategy and manager, the Texas Rangers were going into the World Series with faith and confidence. They had done the best any club could do to excel on the main stage. The side that
had never won a playoff series came back after an absence of 11 years to oust the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees from the competition. The team was evidently on cloud 9 and where else could it have been. The ball club was shaping history as it progressed
further into the post season. It won its first series and then took the American League Championship crown to make it to the finals. There was unity within the club and it seemed to glow brighter as the team won more matches.
However, it wasn’t a good situation for the Rangers to feel good about themselves. They were going out against a team that was tactically strong and wise. The Giants were keen to make their competitors quiver in confusion and they
had done that successfully, beating the Texans in the first two encounters. However, once the side came to the home of the Rangers, they lost the first fixture against Colby Lewis. Now, the two ball clubs faced off for the 4th game at the Rangers
ballpark. A win was crucial for both teams and the hosts wasted no time to introduce their pitcher for the bout. Tommy Hunter came through to provide cover and he was going to have to rally under the Texas banner if he expected to quell the San Francisco offence.
Hunter began his pitching duties and straight away he was put for a hit by Andres Torres. The Giants showed their strengths as they leaped forward, but Tommy was up to the mark to retire all three hitters on the plate following
Torres’ steal for the second. Madison Bumgarner started well for San Francisco and he got all three Rangers hitters to end the first inning with no runs conceded during the bout. Both clubs were at their best and it wasn’t until the top 3rd that
any runs were made in the game.
Andres Torres started the inning for the Giants with a double to the right. Freddy Sanchez came in next, but his influence was not allowed to emit from the plate as Hunter cancelled him out from the diamond. Aubrey Huff, the once
star hitter for the visitors, was the next man on to face an opportunity at redemption and he did not let down his manager as he smashed Hunter’s pitch for a massive 404 feet homer to the right.
The hit got San Francisco 2 runs and that spelled trouble for the Rangers. With Bumgarner on the mound for the opponents, the Texan Rangers were hoping for a hit to come their way soon as the match continued forth into the next
inning.
