MLB Roundup: Los Angeles Dodgers clinch series against Colorado Rockies 2-1

Game 1: Dodgers defeat Colorado Rockies 7-1
The Los Angeles Dodgers took revenge of their last two defeats against the Colorado Rockies by overpowering them 7-1 in the series opener, at the Dodger Stadium on May 30.
Rockies had defeated the Dodgers 3-0 on May 5 and with 7-5 on May 6 to win a series sweep. However, this time, the Dodgers attacked from both sides of the game and took their revenge in the first game of the three-game series, played in Los Angeles, California.
The Dodgers piled up seven runs, four in the bottom of the third and three in the fifth while allowing just one run in the top of the fourth inning. In the third inning, Andre Ethier led off the game with an RBI double, as Matt Kemp and James Loney each
scored an RBI single to post four runs.
Ethier again opened the inning with an RBI single and then Loney launched a 407-feet long two-run homer to elevate the lead to 7-1, as the Rockies Ty Wigginton launched a one-run homer in the fourth inning.
The Dodgers’ starter, Chad Billingsley gave one run, walked two and struck-out eight batters over seven innings to win his fourth game while the Rockies’ starter Jason Hammel yielded seven runs on ten hits, walked one and struck-out one batter over four
innings to bear his fifth loss of the season.
Game 2: Dodgers rout Rockies 8-2 in second-straight game
The Dodgers kept their momentum in the second outing as they routed the Rockies 8-2 with another impressive play from both sides of the game on May 31.
Matt Kemp blistered a 420-feet huge two-run homer off the Rockies’ starter Clayton Mortensen, who scored an RBI single in the second inning when he came for his first at-bat in the first inning to earn a 2-0 lead. Kemp scored another RBI double and then
Aaron Miles scored to achieve a 5-1 lead in the third inning.
The Rockies Ty Wigginton launched a one-run homer in the seventh inning to score the second and the last run for his club. In the bottom of this inning, Casey Blake blistered a 400-feet long three-run homer to take the lead to 8-2 that remained until the
Dodgers started enjoying their second straight win.
Dodgers’ starter Ted Lilly also played a vital role with the ball in the 26th win of his club. He scattered two runs on four hits, walked none and struck-out eight batters over seven innings to take his fourth win of the season.
Game 3: Ubaldo Jimenez blanks Dodgers as Rockies splinter 3-fixture slip
The Rockies made a devastating come-back in the rubber game as the club crushed the league rivals Dodgers 3-0 at Dodger Stadium, on June 1.
The Rockies starter, Ubaldo Jimenez who was looking for his first win of the season, achieved his triumph in a splendid manner as he did not yield any run on four hits and struck-out seven batters in his nine innings. With this win, Ubaldo improved his record
to 1-5 with 4.98 ERA.
Ubaldo did not lose his form throughout the game in spite the fact that his batters piled just three runs, one each in the second, third and fourth inning. Jose Morales and Carlos Gonzalez each scored an RBI on a sacrifice fly while Todd Helton launched
the only homer of the game in the fourth inning.
The Dodgers’ starter Jon Garland, who apart from these runs allowed one walk and made two strike-outs over six innings, to bear his fifth loss of the season.
