MLB Season Review: Arizona Diamondbacks beat Cincinnati Reds 2-1 in three-game series
National League’s Arizona Diamondbacks and Cincinnati Reds both put in a tremendous effort in a thrilling three game series. Diamondbacks did a valuable job as they sealed a 2-1 victory in this series after beating the Reds convincingly. Arizona has had
a remarkable season so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record during the season.
Let us take a brief outline of these exciting games:
Game 1 – April 19: Arizona Diamondbacks 5 – Cincinnati Reds 4
Diamondbacks directed a 5-4 win in the first game, as Armando Galarraga was incredible with his pitching. He threw his respective six innings with an ERA of 6.00 and struck-out six batters in the Diamondbacks victory. Ryan Roberts said, “It was one of those
days where everything you hit seems to go. I don't know how to explain it. It's a good thing I got in there tonight.”
On the other side, Reds’ batters were able to take only four runs right through the whole game. Sam LeCure pitched well for the Reds but that was not enough to steal a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only three batters during his 88 pitches and
gave away no walk, nine hits, five runs, four home-runs and five earned runs with an ERA of 4.15.
Game 2 – April 20: Arizona Diamondbacks 3 – Cincinnati Reds 1
In the second game, Diamondbacks outclassed the Reds 3-1. Diamondbacks’ starter, Ian Kennedy pitched the ball in accurate line as he threw just over five innings and allowed only four hits with an ERA of 5.64. Kennedy was able to strike-out just three batters
during his 103 pitches.
Reds’ manager, Dusty Baker said, “As long as we don't panic and continue to work hard, it'll be great. I'm as positive as I've ever been. I'm not happy, but I'm positive.”
Cincinnati was unsteady with the bat and added just one run until the end of the game. Bronson Arroyo had a bad day with the ball as he pitched just over six innings with an ERA of 4.24 and surrendered five hits with one walk on his 109 pitches. Arroyo struck-out
eight batters and gave away just three earned runs.
Game 3 – April 21: Arizona Diamondbacks 4 – Cincinnati Reds 7
During the last game of the series, Diamondbacks lost 7-4. Reds’ third baseman Miguel Cairo shined as he struck two RBIs and went 1-for-3 with an average of .250.
Diamondbacks’ batters were able to produce only four runs in a series finale. Daniel Hudson pitched just over five innings and gave away seven runs, five hits, seven earned runs and one home-run on his 101 pitches. However, a decent team effort gave the
Diamondbacks a series win against the struggling Reds.
