MLB Season Review: Atlanta Braves crush San Francisco Giants 3-0
National League’s two thrilling teams, Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants were energetic after finishing their spring training season in style. Braves were on top and did an obvious job as they confirmed a 3-0 victory in this series after defeating
the Giants comfortably. In the last game of the spring training season, Braves’ pitchers gave their team an exciting victory.
Let us take an overview of how the Braves overcame the Giants.
Game 1 – April 22: Atlanta Braves 4 – San Francisco Giants 1
Braves directed a 4-1 win in the first game, as Tommy Hanson was impressive with his pitching. He had seven strike-outs with an ERA of 3.21 in the Braves impressive victory. Giants’ manager, Bruce Bochy said, “I know Fredi well. He's a friend. It's still
going to be strange for me to look over to that dugout and not see Bobby. I'm really going to miss him.”
On the other side, Giants’ batters were able to contribute only one run in the entire game. Madison Bumgarner pitched well for the Giants but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only two batters on his 67 pitches and
permitted four hits with three earned runs.
Game 2 – April 23: Atlanta Braves 5 – San Francisco Giants 2
In the second game, Braves outclassed the Giants 5-2. Braves’ starter, Tim Hudson threw the ball in good line as he pitched just over eight innings and surrendered just two runs and two earned runs with nine hits on his 113 pitches. Hudson had four strike-outs
with an ERA of 3.57.
Speaking to reporters, Hudson said, “It's pretty disappointing. My pitch count got up there and I was labouring a little bit. But I'm not a guy who takes a lot of pride in complete games.”
Giants were unbalanced with the bat and scored only two runs until the end of the game. Tim Lincecum struggled with the ball as he threw just over six innings with an ERA of 2.70 and gave away six hits, five runs, six walks, no homer and five earned runs
on his 110 pitches.
Game 3 – April 24: Atlanta Braves 9 – San Francisco Giants 6
During the final game of the series, Giants lost 9-6. Braves’ right-fielder Jason Heyward shined as he completed two runs including three RBIs and went 3-for-5 with an average of .250.
Giants were able to post only six runs in the last game. Jonathan Sanchez pitched five innings and gave away two runs, two hits, two earned runs and three walks on his 86 pitches. However, a decent team effort kept the Braves on top against the Giants throughout
the series.
