MLB Season Review: Atlanta Braves sweep Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 in four-game series
National League’s Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers fought it out in an exciting four-game series. Braves were remarkable and did a significant job as they sealed a 4-0 victory in the series after defeating the Brewers comfortably.
Let us take a summary of these four games and see how the Braves dominated the Brewers.
Game 1 – May 2: Milwaukee Brewers 2 – Atlanta Braves 6
Braves directed a 6-2 win in the first game, as Jair Jurrjens was incredible with his pitching. He threw just over seven respective innings with an ERA of 1.52 and struck-out four batters in the Braves victory. Brewers’ manager, Ron Roenicke said, “I thought
he looked better this time than he did his last outing. Still isn't like we saw in the first couple games, but we thought it was better.”
On the other hand, Brewers’ batters were able to score only two runs right through the complete game. Yovani Gallardo threw nicely for the Brewers but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only seven batters during his
89 pitches and gave away five earned runs including nine hits with an ERA of 6.10.
Game 2 – May 4: Milwaukee Brewers 3 – Atlanta Braves 8
In the second game, Braves outclassed the Brewers 8-3 and led the four-game series 2-0. Braves’ starter, Tommy Hanson pitched the ball in accurate line as he threw six innings and allowed three hits with an ERA of 2.63. Hanson was able to strike-out seven
batters on his 101 pitches and gave away two walks with two runs.
Brewers wavered with the bat and added only three runs until the ending of the game. Marco Estrada had a shaky day with the ball as he pitched just over five innings with an ERA of 4.78 and surrendered nine hits with seven earned runs on his 114 pitches.
Estrada struck-out only five batters on his individual pitched innings.
Game 3 – May 4: Milwaukee Brewers 0 – Atlanta Braves 8
During the third game of the series, Brewers lost 8-0. Braves’ second baseman Dan Uggla shined as he struck one RBI and went 3-for-4 with an average of .218.
Brewers’ batters werer unable to take even a single run in this important game. Zack Greinke pitched four innings and gave away five runs, five hits, four earned runs and one walk on his 86 pitches.
Game 4 – May 5: Milwaukee Brewers 1 – Atlanta Braves 2
Braves won the series finale with 2-1 as each player executed superbly in their respective departments. Braves’ starter, Brandon Beachy threw his six innings with an ERA of 2.98 and struck-out nine batters. However, Braves were on top till the whole series
and sealed it comfortably.
