MLB Season Review: Baltimore Orioles edge out Chicago White Sox 3-1 in four-game series
American League’s Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox went head-to-head in a hard fought four-game series. Orioles were remarkable and did a significant job as they confirmed a 3-1 victory in the series after defeating the White Sox comfortably.
Let us take a summary of these four games and see how the Orioles dominated the White Sox.
Game 1 – April 29: Baltimore Orioles 10 – Chicago White Sox 4

Orioles directed a 10-4 win in the first game, as Jake Arrieta was incredible with his pitching. He threw his respective five innings with an ERA of 5.01 and struck-out two batters in the Orioles victory. Speaking to reporters, Arrieta said, “Physically
I didn't feel good tonight. I wanted to stay in but they made the call.”
On the other hand, White Sox batters were able to score only four runs right through the complete game. John Danks threw nicely for the White Sox but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only three batters during his
107 pitches and gave away five earned runs including eight hits with an ERA of 3.92.
Game 2 – April 30: Baltimore Orioles 6 – Chicago White Sox 2
In the second game, Orioles outclassed the White Sox 6-2 and led the four-game series 2-0. Orioles’ starter, Chris Tillman pitched the ball in accurate line as he threw five innings and allowed six hits with an ERA of 5.25. Tillman was unable to strike-out
any batter on his 88 pitches and gave away two walks with one run.
White Sox were unsteady with the bat and contributed just two runs until the end of the game. Philip Humber had an average day with the ball as he pitched seven innings with an ERA of 3.06 and surrendered three hits with two earned runs on his 97 pitches.
Humber struck-out only five batters on his respective pitched innings.
Game 3 – May 1: Baltimore Orioles 6 – Chicago White Sox 4
During the third game of the series, White Sox lost 6-4. Orioles’ right-fielder Nick Markakis shined as he struck three RBIs and went 1-for-4 with an average of .206.
Markakis said, “We just felt he [Floyd] was in a pattern there. The more pitches you can eliminate the easier to hit.”
White Sox batters took only four runs in this crucial game. Gavin Floyd pitched six innings and gave away six runs, seven hits, six earned runs and two walks on his 100 pitches.
Game 4 – May 2: Baltimore Orioles 2 – Chicago White Sox 6
White Sox won the series finale 6-2 as each player executed superbly in their respective departments. White Sox starter, Mark Buehrle threw just over six innings with an ERA of 4.37 and struck-out four batters. However, Orioles dominated throughout the series
and sealed it comfortably.
