MLB Season Review: Boston Red Sox beat Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 in four-game series
American League’s Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays both fought well in a thrilling four game series. Boston did a noticeable job as they sealed a 3-1 victory in this series after defeating the Blue Jays convincingly. Red Sox have had a remarkable season
so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record during the early part of the season.
Let us take a brief summary of these exciting games:
Game 1 – April 15: Toronto Blue Jays 7 – Boston Red Sox 6
Blue Jays directed a 7-6 win in the first game, as Brett Cecil was incredible with his pitching. He threw his respective six innings with an ERA of 6.19 and struck-out five batters in the Jays victory. Red Sox manager, Terry Francona said, “It's not going
to mean anything tomorrow because we lost, but, always, we've got to give ourselves a chance. We're looking for positives.”
On the other side, Red Sox batters were able to add only six runs right through the complete game. Clay Buchholz pitched well for the Red Sox but that was not enough to steal a win for his team. He was able to strike-out three batters during his 94 pitches
and gave away five walks including three hits with an ERA of 6.60.
Game 2 – April 16: Toronto Blue Jays 1 – Boston Red Sox 4
In the second game, Red Sox outclassed the Jays 4-1. Red Sox starter, Josh Beckett pitched the ball in accurate line but was expensive as he threw seven innings and allowed three hits with an ERA of 1.80. Beckett struck out nine batters on his 101 pitches
and gave away two walks with one earned run.
Blue Jays were shaky with the bat and added just one run until the end of the game. Jo-Jo Reyes had a bad day with the ball as he pitched three innings with an ERA of 6.75 and surrendered seven hits with four earned runs on his 94 pitches. Reyes struck-out
only three batters.
Game 3 – April 17: Toronto Blue Jays 1 – Boston Red Sox 8
During third game of the series, Blue Jays lost 8-1. Red Sox short-stop Jed Lowrie shined as he struck one RBI and went 1-for-4 with an average of .462.
Blue Jays’ batters yielded only one run in this crucial game. Jesse Litsch pitched six innings and gave away six runs, seven hits, four earned runs and one walk on his 97 pitches.
Game 4 – April 18: Toronto Blue Jays 1 – Boston Red Sox 9
Red Sox won the series finale 9-1 as each player executed particularly well in their respective disciplines. Daisuke Matsuzaka threw his seven innings with an ERA of 6.43 and struck-out three batters. However, an impressive team effort gave the Red Sox a
series win against the struggling Blue Jays.
