MLB Season Review: Chicago White Sox beat Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 in four-game series
American League’s Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays both went head-to-head in a thrilling four game series. White Sox did a brilliant job as they sealed a 3-1 victory in this series after defeating the Rays convincingly. White Sox have had a remarkable
season so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record during early spring training season.
Let us take a brief summary of these exciting games:
Game 1 – April 7: Tampa Bay Rays 1 – Chicago White Sox 5
White Sox directed a 5-1 win in the first game, as Edwin Jackson was incredible with his pitching. He threw his respective eight innings with an ERA of 1.93 and struck-out 13 batters in the White Sox victory. Jackson said, “Any time I'm able to go out and
get in an early rhythm and get outs quick and attack the strike zone, I like my odds.”
On the other side, Rays’ batters were able to add only one run right through the complete game. David Price pitched well for the Rays but that was not enough to grab a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only two batters during his 97 pitches and
gave away one walk, nine hits, three runs, no home-run and three earned runs with an ERA of 4.85.
Game 2 – April 8: Tampa Bay Rays 9 – Chicago White Sox 7
In the second game, Rays outclassed the White Sox 9-7. Rays’ starter, James Shields pitched the ball in accurate line but was expensive as he threw six innings and allowed eight hits with an ERA of 4.73. Shields did not strike-out any batter on his 98 pitches.
White Sox were shaky with the bat and added just seven runs until the end of the game. John Danks had an insecure day with the ball as he pitched six innings with an ERA of 4.50 and surrendered six hits with four walks on his 105 pitches. Danks struck-out
five batters.
Game 3 – April 9: Tampa Bay Rays 2 – Chicago White Sox 4
During the third game of the series, Rays lost 4-2. White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski shined as he struck two RBIs and went 2-for-3 with an average of .267. He put in a brilliant performance as he help guide the team to dominate early.
Rays’ batters yielded only two runs in this crucial game. Wade Davis pitched six innings and gave away two runs, five hits, two earned runs and three walks on his 103 pitches.
Game 4 – April 10: Tampa Bay Rays 1 – Chicago White Sox 6
White Sox won the series finale 6-1 as each player executed particularly well in their respective disciplines. Gavin Floyd threw his eight innings with an ERA of 2.40 and struck-out eight batters. However, an amazing team effort gave the White Sox the series
win against the struggling Rays.
