MLB Season Review: Cincinnati Reds rout Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 in three-game series
National League’s Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds fought it out in a three game series. The Reds were amazing and did a perceptible job as they completed a 2-1 victory in this series after defeating the Brewers. During the last game of the spring training
season, Reds’ pitchers were outstanding with their throws.
Let us take an overview and see how the Reds dominated the Brewers in this thrilling series.
Game 1 – April 25: Cincinnati Reds 9 – Milwaukee Brewers 5
Reds directed a 9-5 win in the first game, as Bronson Arroyo was impressive with his pitching. He had four strike-outs with an ERA of 3.64 in the Reds impressive victory. Speaking to reporters, Arroyo said, “It's always fun to get that many runs early. It
makes it that much easier for you to pitch it [with] less effort. I went out there in some of the middle innings.”
On the other hand, the Brewers’ batters were able to chip in just five runs in the entire game. Chris Narveson threw beautifully for the Brewers but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only two batters on his 65 pitches
and permitted eight hits with seven earned runs.
Game 2 – April 26: Cincinnati Reds 2 – Milwaukee Brewers 3
During the second game, Brewers outshined the Reds 3-2. Brewers’ starter, Marco Estrada threw the ball in good line as he pitched seven innings and surrendered just two runs and two earned runs with two hits on his 103 pitches. Estrada had five strike-outs
with an ERA of 3.00.
Rickie Weeks said, “It's a great start, that's where you want to be. It's hard in baseball to start slow and try to build your way back into things.”
Reds were crooked with the bat and scored only two runs until the end of the game. Mike Leake had an average day with the ball as he threw seven innings with an ERA of 4.40 and gave away seven hits, two runs, no walk, two homers and two earned runs on his
98 pitches.
Game 3 – April 27: Cincinnati Reds 7 – Milwaukee Brewers 6
During the final game of the series, Brewers lost 7-6. Reds’ first baseman Joey Votto shined as he completed one run including four RBIs and went 2-for-4 with an average of .379.
Brewers were able to post six runs in the last game. Yovani Gallardo pitched five innings and gave away six runs, 10 hits, six earned runs and three walks on his 101 pitches. However, a decent team effort kept the Reds on top against the inconsistent Brewers
throughout the series.
