MLB Season Review: Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals level four-game series 2-all
American League’s Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals went head-to-head in a thrilling four game series. Indians and Royals both did an imposing job as they tied the series 2-all.
Let us take a brief summary of these inspiring games:
Game 1 – April 18: Cleveland Indians 7– Kansas City Royals 3
Indians directed a 7-3 win in the first game, as Carlos Carrasco was incredible with his pitching. He threw his just over six respective innings with an ERA of 4.85 and struck-out four batters in the Indians victory. Royals’ manager, Ned Yost said, “We didn't
help ourselves, that's for sure. We really struggled to command the ball, especially out of the pen.”
On the other side, Royals’ batters were able to add just three runs right through the complete game. Kyle Davies pitched well for the Royals but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out just seven batters during his 90 pitches
and gave away two runs including seven hits with an ERA of 7.20.
Game 2 – April 19: Cleveland Indians 4– Kansas City Royals 5
In the second game, Royals outclassed the Indians 5-4. Royals’ starter, Bruce Chen pitched the ball accurately but was expensive as he threw seven innings and allowed six hits with an ERA of 2.42. Chen struck-out five batters on his 102 pitches and gave
away three walks with two earned runs.
Indians struggled with the bat and added only four runs until the end of the game. Jeanmar Gomez had a bad day with the ball as he pitched just over four innings with an ERA of 10.38 and surrendered nine hits with two walks on his 88 pitches. Gomez had three
strike-outs on his respective pitches.
Game 3 – April 20: Cleveland Indians 7– Kansas City Royals 5
During the third game of the series, Royals lost 7-5. Indians’ designated hitter Travis Hafner shined as he struck one RBI and went 2-for-5 with an average of .351.
Royals yielded only five runs in this crucial game. Luke Hochevar pitched six innings and gave away six runs, five hits, six earned runs and three walks on his 107 pitches. He said, “I don't know if I really have an answer. I felt like I was throwing the
ball well.”
Game 4 – April 21: Cleveland Indians 2 – Kansas City Royals 3
Royals won the series finale 3-2 as each player came together for a tremendous team effort. Sean O’Sullivan threw his six innings with an ERA of 4.20 and struck-out six batters. However, an amazing group effort kept the Indians and Royals both on top throughout
the four-game series.
