MLB Season Review: Cleveland Indians sweep Baltimore Orioles 3-0
American League’s Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles both fought it out in a thrilling three game series. Indians did a noticeable job as they sealed a 3-0 victory in this series after defeating the Orioles convincingly. Indians have had a remarkable
season so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record.
Let us take a brief summary of these thrilling games:
Game 1 – April 15: Baltimore Orioles 2 – Cleveland Indians 8

Indians directed an 8-2 win in the first game, as Justin Masterson was impressive with his pitching. He had three strike-outs with an ERA of 1.33 in the Indians convincing victory. Orioles’ manager, Buck Showalter said, “One inning was the difference, but
I was proud of the way he responded. He came back, battled, pitched well. He's grounded and puts the team first.”
On the other side, Orioles’ batters got only two runs in the whole game. Zach Britton pitched well for the Orioles but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only six batters on his 83 pitches and permitted eight hits with
five earned runs.
Game 2 – April 16: Baltimore Orioles 3 – Cleveland Indians 8
In the second game, Indians outclassed the Orioles 8-3. Indians’ starter, Josh Tomlin threw the ball in good line as he pitched six innings and surrendered just two runs, six hits, no walk, two home-runs and two earned runs on his 79 pitches. Tomlin had
four strike-outs with an ERA of 2.75.
Indians’ manager, Manny Acta said, “It means the world. Everybody wants to pitch with a lead. It really gives guys more confidence to throw the ball over the plate and challenge guys.”
Orioles were shaky with the bat and added just three runs until the end of the game. Jeremy Guthrie had an inconsistent day with the ball as he threw five innings with an ERA of 3.32 and gave away 10 hits, six runs, one walk, one homer and six earned runs
on his 98 pitches.
Game 3 – April 17: Baltimore Orioles 2 – Cleveland Indians 4
During final game of the series, Orioles lost 4-2. Indians’ designated hitter Travis Hafner shined as he completed one run including one RBI and went 2-for-3 with an average of .354. Fausto Carmona pitched his seven innings superbly to give the Indians a
valuable victory.
Orioles’ batters were able to yield only two runs in the series finale. Brad Bergesen pitched five innings and gave away three runs, six hits, two earned runs and two home-runs on his 88 pitches. However, a brilliant team effort kept the Indians on top against
the Orioles throughout the series.
