MLB Season Review: Cleveland Indians sweep Boston Red Sox 3-0 in three game series
American League’s Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox went head-to-head in an exciting three game series. Indians did a spectacular job as they crushed the Red Sox 3-0 in this series. Cleveland has had an exceptional season so far as they got an exemplary
Win-Loss record during spring training season.
Let us take a brief summary of these inspiring games:
Game 1 – April 5: Boston Red Sox 1 – Cleveland Indians 3
Indians managed a 3-1 win in the first game, as Josh Tomlin was impressive with his pitching. He had three strike-outs with an ERA of 1.29 in the Indians convincing victory. Cleveland’s manager, Manny Acta was excited after this win and said, “Josh Tomlin
was fantastic. He had their lefties off balance and had full control of his four-pitch repertoire. He deserves all the credit.”
On the other side, Red Sox batters got only one run in the whole game. Josh Beckett pitched well for the Red Sox but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only four batters on his 106 pitches.
Game 2 – April 6: Boston Red Sox 4 – Cleveland Indians 8
In the second game, Indians outclassed the Red Sox 8-4. Indians’ starter, Mitch Talbot threw the ball in good line as he pitched just over four innings and surrendered just two runs, five hits, three walks, no home-run and two earned runs on his 102 pitches.
Talbot had seven strike-outs with an ERA of 4.15.
Red Sox manager, Terry Francona said, “This game will humble you in a hurry and it's doing that to us right now. We've got to start acting like a good team.”
Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez, David Ortiz and J.D. Drew were the only players who contributed four runs jointly for the Red Sox. Daisuke Matsuzaka had a shaky day with the ball as he threw five innings with an ERA of 5.40 and gave away six hits, three
runs, three walks, one homer and three earned runs on his 96 pitches.
Game 3 – April 7: Boston Red Sox 0 – Cleveland Indians 1
During the final game of the series, Red Sox lost 1-0. Indians’ third baseman Adam Everett shined as he completed two runs including one walk and went 1-for-2 with an average of .500. Fausto Carmona pitched his seven innings superbly to give the Indians
a valuable victory.
Everett was the only player who posted a single run on the score-board to help the potential of his team. However, a tremendous team effort kept the Indians on top against the Red Sox throughout the series.
