MLB Season Review: Cleveland Indians sweep Kansas City Royals 3-0 in three-game series
American League’s Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals battled it out in an exciting three game series. Indians were amazing and did a significant job as they completed a 3-0 victory in this series after defeating the Royals comfortably.
Let us take an overview and see how the Indians swept the Royals.
Game 1 – April 26: Kansas City Royals 4 – Cleveland Indians 9

Indians directed a 9-4 win in the first game, as Justin Masterson was impressive with his pitching. He had seven strike-outs with an ERA of 2.18 in the Indians convincing victory. Speaking to reporters, Masterson said, “It's not the same guy doing it every
time. It's a different guy, that's what makes this fun. Guys are making plays here, there and everywhere.”
Royals’ batters were able to score only four runs in the first game. Luke Hochevar threw beautifully for the Royals but that was not enough to secure a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only three batters on his 97 pitches and permitted 11 hits
with six earned runs.
Game 2 – April 27: Kansas City Royals 2 – Cleveland Indians 7
During the second game, Indians outshined the Royals 7-2. Indians’ starter, Josh Tomlin threw the ball accurately as he pitched six innings and surrendered just one walk and five hits on his 100 pitches. Tomlin had three strike-outs with an ERA of 2.45.
Indians’ manager, Manny Acta said, “He's a guy who keeps it simple. He throws strikes. He goes after guys and most of the time you are going to get the best out of a hitter when you do that.”
Royals struggled with the bat and scored just two runs until the end of the game. Jeff Francis had a bad day with the ball as he threw three innings with an ERA of 5.03 and gave away 10 hits, six runs, no walk, no homer and five earned runs on his 70 pitches.
Game 3 – April 28: Kansas City Royals 2 – Cleveland Indians 8
During the final game of the series, Royals lost 2-8. Indians’ centre-fielder Grady Sizemore shined as he completed two runs including two RBIs and went 2-for-4 with an average of .390. Indians’ starter, Fausto Carmona pitched seven innings and allowed five
hits, two runs, two earned runs including two strike-outs.
Royals were able to post only two runs in the series finale and failed to avoid an embarrassing clean sweep against the Indians. Kyle Davies pitched just over three innings and gave away eight runs, nine hits, eight earned runs and four home-runs on his
75 pitches. However, a brilliant team effort kept the Indians on top against the inconsistent Royals throughout the series.
