MLB Season Review: Colorado Rockies sweep New York Mets 4-0
National League’s Colorado Rockies and New York Mets both battled it out in a thrilling four game series. Rockies did a tremendous job as they sealed a 4-0 victory in this series after defeating the Mets comfortably. Rockies have had a remarkable season
so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record.
Let us take a brief summary of these thrilling games:
Game 1 – April 11: Colorado Rockies 7 – New York Mets 6
Rockies directed a 7-6 win in the first game, as Jason Hammel was incredible with his pitching. He threw his respective six innings with an ERA of 4.91 and struck-out three batters in the Rockies victory. Ty Wigginton said, “Every day these guys do something
that you're just like, wow! They're definitely special and the Rockies have a lot of reasons to be excited about them.”
On the other side, Mets’ batters were able to add only six runs right through the complete game. Mike Pelfrey pitched well for the Mets but that was not enough to steal a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only three batters during his 113 pitches
and gave away four walks, six hits, four runs, no home-run and three earned runs with an ERA of 10.80.
Game 2 – April 13: Colorado Rockies 5 – New York Mets 4
In the second game, Rockies outclassed the Mets by 5-4. Rockies’ starter, Esmil Rogers pitched the ball accurately as he threw just over five innings and allowed seven hits with an ERA of 2.77. Rogers struck-out only two batters on his 106 pitches.
Mets were shaky with the bat and added just four runs until the end of the game. Jonathon Niese had an insecure day with the ball as he pitched six innings with an ERA of 6.88 and surrendered seven hits with three walks on his 101 pitches. Niese struck-out
five batters and allowed five earned runs.
Game 3 – April 14: Colorado Rockies 6 – New York Mets 5
During third game of the series, Mets lost by 6-5. Rockies’ short-stop Troy Tulowitzki shined as he struck one RBI and went 3-for-4 with an average of .350.
Mets’ batters yielded only five runs in this crucial game. R.A. Dickey pitched just over six innings and gave away five runs, eight hits, five earned runs and four walks on his 109 pitches.
Game 4 – April 14: Colorado Rockies 9 – New York Mets 4
Rockies won the series finale 9-4 as each player executed particularly well in their respective disciplines. Jorge De La Rosa threw just over six innings with an ERA of 3.18 and struck-out seven batters. However, a brilliant team effort gave the Rockies
the series win against the struggling Mets.
